Sustainable Schools

On Friday 27th Jan, Zellar was at the Church of England National Conference, alongside The Rt Hon. Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education, The Rt Hon. the Lord Boateng, Chair of the Church of England Racial Justice Commission, Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England and The Most Reverend Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York.

We led the Sustainable Schools and Climate Action workstream with Teachers, MAT leaders and Young Leaders, to help understand the challenges faced and showcase how Zellar can support. Joining Matt Lodder (Zellar's CXO) and Suzy Lloyd (Head of Digital & Social) for the MAT Leader workshops, was Dr. David Dixon, author of the book Leadership for Sustainability. David specialises in curriculum and leadership, and throughout the MAT workstreams, guided leaders on how to link sustainability with school improvements, and how this could impact OFSTED reporting.

In the Young Leaders workshops, our founder Gary Styles was also joined by Mary Fellowes (Sustainability Consultant in the Fashion and Luxury Sectors) and Sarah Suddrey (Bin Twinning Lead) on a Q&A panel, while our young leaders at Zellar (Becky Connell, Ruby Styles & Elsa Papa) inspired 100 Young Leaders to understand the impact of climate change and sustainability. Kevin Osborne (who leads our engagement across UK schools), was inspired by how we can all bring our expertise together and make a difference today.

Zellar has launched its UK-wide programme Zellar SMART Schools to help schools track, reduce emissions and save costs, in line with DfE’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, for only £200 a year. Find out more at zellar.com/schools
