Chris Brindley appointed as chair of Zellar

Former Metro Bank MD and chair of the Rugby World Cup takes up post to help Zellar achieve ambitious growth plans

Chris Brindley MBE has been appointed as chair at Zellar.

Chris brings to Zellar a wealth of experience gleaned from senior roles at British Gas, NatWest and Metro Bank, as well as a successful second career as one of the country's leading advisors, coaches and chairpersons across business and sport.

His ability to lead and inspire a wide variety of organisations has seen him awarded with an MBE for services to sport and chosen as the Institute of Directors, UK Non-Executive Director of the Year. Most recently Chris was chairman of the board at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2021) Organising Committee.

Chris was formerly a non-executive advisor to Zellar CEO, Gary Styles. As chair, Chris will keep Zellar’s leadership team accountable and on track to achieve its ambitious plans to work with 250,000 SMEs, schools and community organisations, such as sports clubs, by 2027.

Chris commented: “What could be more important and rewarding than helping an early stage company with huge ambitions to help SMEs and community organisations tackle the most important issue of our generation?

 Zellar is democratising sustainability by making it affordable for millions of SMEs and community organisations, like schools and clubs. My task is to keep Zellar’s mission on track and is one in which I’m personally invested in fulfilling.”

Other non-executive roles held by Chris include senior non-executive director Manchester Football Association, business mentor at the Premier League Elite Academy Manager Programme and chair of the County Sports Partnership at GreaterSport.

Chris is also a leading conference speaker in the UK, Europe, Africa and Australia covering topics such as customer excellence, leadership, change, employee engagement and how to build high performing teams through growth mindset.

A proven multi-award winning leader, Chris’ extensive list of recognised achievements during his early career include being awarded Sales and Marketing Director of the Year for 3 consecutive years by the British Excellence Sales and Marketing Awards and “Britain’s Best Boss” by the Working Families Association.
